19 Xteink X4
Someone occasionally posts about the Xteink X3/X4 on Hacker News, and I try to join the conversation because I like my X4 quite a bit:
- Got the X4. Put CrossPoint on it. Works like a charm...
- I am using the Xteink X4 as my primary e-reader nowadays...
It is a tiny device similar in size to the original iPhone and has a screen the size of a credit card. The body is plastic and glass. The screen is a 219 ppi e-ink module. The device runs on a low-powered ESP32 microcontroller and uses an SD card to store books. I switched to the CrossPoint firmware on day one. The battery lasts forever, and transferring books is simple because of the HTTP server CrossPoint runs on the device.
You do not need multicore processors, Android, or large batteries to read e-books.
Fair warning: the screen is delicate and might need protection depending on how you use it.
