I am Karthik. I write software. I love languages: machine and human.
This site is named Bhāṣikā because I plan to write about language in its many forms:
- Languages used to program machines.
- Languages used by humans to communicate with each other. This includes conlangs.
- Large language models.
Bhāṣikā (भाषिका) is a Sanskrit word that has many derivations:
भाष् + ण्वुल्/वुन्produces a doer: the speaker.भाष् + णिचि + ण्वुल्/वुन्produces the one who caused the doing: the speaking.
भाषिका is the feminine form of each of the above.
One more derivation exists: भाषा + कन्. This produces the same meaning, language or speech, as भाषा itself, optionally in the diminutive sense.
